On the left is my badly broken upper arm (humerus) after my mountain bike accident.
On the right is the incredible work of my surgeon, Mr Munjal, who replaced what simply couldn’t be repaired.
The original plan was to save the entire bone.
Unfortunately, a large part of the humeral head couldn’t be saved.
So the decision was simple: replace it with the best solution.
It struck me that the same principle applies to business.
Are your business processes fit for purpose?
Is your technology enabling growth or holding you back?
Does your cyber security protect today’s threats, not yesterday’s?
Does your team have the capability you need for the future?
Too many organisations continue to work around broken processes, ageing technology, compromised systems, skills gaps or underperforming teams because change seems difficult.
I don’t believe in change for the sake of change and replacing with the shiniest newest or most expensive
But its essential to make the right change, at the right time, for the right reason.
Sometimes the best decision is to repair.
Sometimes it’s to upgrade.
And sometimes, the only way forward is to replace what’s no longer fit for purpose with the best solution available.
The cost of doing nothing is usually far greater than the cost of making the right change.
Massive thanks to the NHS and Worcestershire Royal Hospital and the incredible Mr Ankur Munjal and his team for saving my arm Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust
I’m confident my new arm is going to be a highly effective member of the team 🙂
